vṛddhatve hi samaśrāti naro vai nātra bhaviṣyati | tasmāddeśe ca kāle ca supātre vidhinā naraḥ | śubhārjitaṃ prayuñjīta śraddhayā śāṭhyavarjitaḥ
Lomaharṣaṇa (Sūta) (deduced for Māheśvarakhaṇḍa context)
Scene: An elder reflects on frailty while a younger self is shown giving properly—two-time overlay. The message: do dharma now, with faith, right earnings, and without deceit.
Since life is uncertain and old age brings decline, one should practice timely, rule-based charity with faith and honesty.
No single tīrtha is specified; the verse gives a universal dharma guideline applicable at sacred places and times.
Dāna should be done deśa-kāla-supātra (right place, right time, worthy recipient) and with śraddhā, without deceit.
