daivādatītakāle cetvṛddhirāpadyate yadā | tadā prathamataḥ kṛtvā paścādvṛddhirvidhīyate
Unspecified (narrative instruction within Dharmāraṇya Khaṇḍa)
Scene: A calm domestic-ritual setting: a yajamāna and priest at a small altar, first placing the original offering portion, then a second, clearly separated supplemental offering; a palm-leaf ledger or ritual tally indicates ‘mūla’ and ‘vṛddhi’.
Dharma is protected by orderly procedure: complete the original obligation first, then add what later becomes necessary.
No single tīrtha is named in this verse; it gives general dharma guidance within the Dharmāraṇya context.
When an additional requirement arises after the proper time, perform the original due act first, then perform the increased/additional part.
