yudhiṣṭhira uvāca | somanāthaprabhāvaṃ me saṃkṣepātkathaya prabho | duḥkhārṇavanimagnānāṃ trātā prāpto dvijottama
Yudhiṣṭhira
Tirtha: Somanātha (requested prabhāva)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Mārkaṇḍeya (addressed as dvijottama)
Scene: Yudhiṣṭhira, solemn and earnest, addresses a venerable brāhmaṇa-sage, requesting the condensed greatness of Somanātha for the afflicted.
Approaching a knower of dharma and hearing a tīrtha’s greatness is itself a path of relief from sorrow and spiritual uplift.
Somanātha—invoked here as a sacred locus of Śiva’s greatness within the Revā Khaṇḍa narrative frame.
No specific rite is prescribed in this verse; it sets up the act of listening (śravaṇa) to the mahātmya.
