ततो ज्ञात्वा महद्भूतं क्षुधाविष्टं द्विजर्षभम् । न जहाति नगश्छायां पानार्थाय ततः परम् । अपिबच्च सुतं तस्मादभृतं चैव भारत
tato jñātvā mahadbhūtaṃ kṣudhāviṣṭaṃ dvijarṣabham | na jahāti nagaśchāyāṃ pānārthāya tataḥ param | apibacca sutaṃ tasmādabhṛtaṃ caiva bhārata
ثم لما أدركت خطورة الأمر—أنَّ ثورَ البراهمة قد أصابَه الجوع—لم تبرح ظلَّ الشجرة، ثم التمست شرابًا. ويا بهاراتا، لقد شربت منه (أرضعت ولدها) فحفظته وأبقته حيًّا.
