Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Sthala Purana: General vrata-tithi praise rather than a site legend; highlights Āśvina śukla-navāmī and (especially) kṛṣṇa-caturdaśī on Sunday as highly efficacious for aim-fulfillment through Śiva worship.
Significance: Encourages observance of potent tithis for Śiva-upāsanā; frames desired fruits as granted through Śiva’s grace (anugraha) when the bound soul aligns with sacred time.
Offering: dipa
Cosmic Event: Auspicious tithi-weekday conjunction: Āśvina śukla-navāmī; and Sunday kṛṣṇa-caturdaśī emphasized
It identifies specific lunar dates as spiritually charged for Śiva-upāsanā, teaching that time aligned with dharma supports the devotee’s aims—both worldly (abhīṣṭa) and ultimately Śiva’s grace leading toward liberation.
The verse points to tithis traditionally used for liṅga-pūjā and vrata on caturdaśī (a classic Śiva-night), emphasizing Saguna Śiva worship as a direct means to receive fruits and deepen devotion.
Observe Śiva-vrata on Śukla Navamī or especially Kṛṣṇa Caturdaśī (notably when it is Sunday): fast or take a light vrata, perform liṅga abhiṣeka, apply tripuṇḍra with bhasma, and repeat the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
