Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pasha
It warns that wrong association (saṅga) quickly stimulates desire for sense-objects, which erodes vairāgya; once detachment weakens, even sincere tapas loses purity and power—so the seeker must guard inner company and impressions to remain oriented to Pati (Shiva).
Linga/Saguna-Shiva worship disciplines the senses through reverent focus, mantra, and ritual purity; this counteracts viṣaya-utpatti (sense-impulse) and preserves vairāgya, allowing devotion to mature into steadiness and liberation-oriented practice.
Maintain protective discipline: daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), worship with vibhūti (Tripuṇḍra) and/or Rudrākṣa as reminders of renunciation, and deliberate avoidance of desire-stimulating company to keep tapas sattvic.
