Sukta 10.10

Devata: Dialogic; Gandharva and an apsarā-like watery feminine are invoked as mythic witnesses/grounds of kinship

न यत्पुरा चकृमा कद्ध नूनमृता वदन्तो अनृतं रपेम । गन्धर्वो अप्स्वप्या च योषा सा नो नाभिः परमं जामि तन्नौ ॥

ná yát purā́ cakṛmá kád dha nūnám ṛtā́ vádanto ánṛtaṃ rapema | gandharvó apsv ápyā́ ca yóṣā sā́ no nā́bhiḥ paramáṃ jā́mi tán nau ||

إن كنّا قد فعلنا ذلك من قبل، فلماذا الآن—ونحن ننطق بالحقّ—نسقط في الباطل؟ الغندرفا في المياه، والفتاة المائيّة: هي سُرّتُنا، وأعلى قرابتنا—ذلك هو الرباط بيننا.
