Concept: Brahmacarya has graded applications: even householders have an ‘excellent’ form of restraint; now the stricter discipline for yatis will be taught.

Application: Adopt context-appropriate restraint: for householders, fidelity and moderation; for seekers, simplify life, reduce sensory excess, and establish daily meditation and scriptural study.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

FAQs

It signals a two-tiered presentation of brahmacarya: one form appropriate to householders (gṛhasthas) and a stricter or differently framed discipline intended for renunciants (yatīs).

No; it functions as a transition—stating that the householder-oriented teaching has been given and that the renunciant-oriented teaching will now be explained.

Ethics and self-discipline are taught according to one’s life-stage and vows; dharma is presented as contextual—aligned with responsibilities of household life and renunciant life.
