ādye hyupoṣya niyato brahmacārī sapītakaiḥ | prātaḥ snātvā śuddhabhūmau liptāyāṃ gomayodakaiḥ || 68 ||
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada the procedural rules of a vrata/rite)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It frames vrata practice as inner discipline expressed through outer purity—fasting, celibate restraint, dawn bathing, and sanctifying the worship-ground—so the rite is performed in a sattvic, regulated state.
While not naming a deity here, it establishes the devotional foundation: a clean body and consecrated space, coupled with self-restraint, make worship and japa steady and undistracted—key supports for sustained bhakti.
It reflects Kalpa-style ritual procedure (a Vedanga-aligned discipline): sequencing of upavāsa, brahmacarya, prātaḥ-snāna, and preparation of a śuddha-bhūmi using gomaya-water for ritual purity.
