सेष्वशोनाः सितं तिथ्यो बलन्नाशोन्नतं विधोः । श्रृङ्गमन्यत्र उद्वाच्यं बलनांगुललेखनात् ॥ १६९ ॥

seṣvaśonāḥ sitaṃ tithyo balannāśonnataṃ vidhoḥ | śrṛṅgamanyatra udvācyaṃ balanāṃgulalekhanāt || 169 ||

في الأيام الباقية تُفهم أجزاء القمر على أنها «بيضاء مضيئة» بحسب التيثي؛ ويُستدل على ازدياد القمر ونقصانه من طلوعه وأفوله. وأما جهة «قرن» الهلال (طرف القوس) فتُذكر في موضع آخر على وجهٍ مغاير، اعتمادًا على العلامة التي تُرسم بالأصابع، أي بالقياس والمشاهدة العملية.
