Unchecked krodha (wrath) expresses itself as violence that destabilizes the world; the verse paints anger as a force that tramples dhārmic order (symbolized by the earth) and weaponizes nature itself (mountains).
Primarily within Vaṃśānucarita/Carita (narrative of deeds) rather than Sarga/Pratisarga/Manvantara/Vaṃśa; Devi Mahatmyam functions as an exemplary sacred history of Devī’s intervention.
The asura’s hooves and horns signify tamasic force acting through the senses and instinct; ‘hurling mountains’ suggests the ego’s attempt to overturn stable inner ‘peaks’ (dharma/steadiness), which Devī will re-center.
