Adhyaya 16 — The Son’s Counsel on Renunciation and the Anasuya–Mandavya Episode: The Suspension of Sunrise and the Power of Pativrata

anasūyovāca yadi devāḥ prasannā me pitāmaha-purogamāḥ | varadā vara-yogyā ca yady ahaṃ bhavatāṃ matā ||

Even when empowered by virtue, the ideal recipient of grace remains humble and careful about adhikāra (worthiness). The verse models respectful address to divine authority and a non-entitled posture toward rewards.
Ākhyāna: a boon-request scene within a dharma narrative; not directly one of the five cosmological markers.
The conditional framing (‘if you deem me worthy’) indicates that siddhi must be stabilized by humility; otherwise power becomes egoic. Brahmā as ‘pitāmaha’ signals sanction from the cosmic order (vidhi).
