Draupadī–Bhīmasena Dialogue on Suffering, Kāla, and Daiva
अस्मिन् राजकुले चेमौ तुल्यकालनिवासिनौ । इति ब्रुवाणा वाक्यानि सा मां नित्यमतर्जयत्
asmin rājākule cemau tulyakālanivāsinau | iti bruvāṇā vākyāni sā māṃ nityam atarjayat ||
قال فايشَمبايانا: «في هذا البيت الملكي، هذان الاثنان يقيمان هنا منذ الزمن نفسه.» وكانت تردد مثل هذه الكلمات مرارًا، فلا تزال تضغط عليّ وتوبخني—متذرعةً بدعوى المساواة في المقام لتسوّغ إلحاحها وتُحاصرني في الأمر القائم.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how claims of equal tenure or status within a household can be used rhetorically to exert pressure. Ethically, it cautions that repeated speech and social arguments may function as coercion, not merely persuasion.
The narrator reports that a woman repeatedly asserted that “these two” have long lived in the same royal household, and by repeating this point she continually scolded or pressed the speaker—indicating an ongoing dispute or demand grounded in household standing.
