The verse teaches that dharmic merit can arise from sincere purification and reverence at a sacred place; spiritual fruit is not only tied to costly grand sacrifices but can also be accessed through rightly performed, faith-filled acts aligned with dharma.
Ghūlastya points out a famous well and declares its extraordinary sanctity: bathing there grants the merit equivalent to performing the Aśvamedha. This functions as guidance within a sacred-places (tīrtha) context, directing the listener toward a specific site and its promised spiritual benefit.
