ऋतुपर्णस्य विदर्भयात्रा-निश्चयः तथा बाहुकस्य हयपरिक्षा (Ṛtuparṇa’s resolve to go to Vidarbha and Bāhuka’s examination of horses)
सा व्युष्टा रजनीं तत्र पितुर्वेश्मनि भाविनी । विश्रान्ता मातरं राजन्निदं वचनमब्रवीत्,युधिष्ठिर! भाविनी दमयन्तीने उस रातमें पिताके घरमें विश्राम किया। सबेरा होनेपर उसने मातासे कहा--
sā vyuṣṭā rajanīṁ tatra pitur veśmani bhāvinī | viśrāntā mātaraṁ rājan idaṁ vacanam abravīt |
ولمّا انقضت تلك الليلة، استراحت السيدة النبيلة داميانتي في بيت أبيها. وعند انبلاج الفجر، يا أيها الملك، خاطبت أمّها بهذه الكلمات—فكان ذلك بدء الخطوة التالية في عزمها ومسارها الذي يمليه الواجب.
