दमयन्त्याः कार्यनिश्चयः — Damayantī’s Crisis Plan and Vārṣṇeya’s Departure
एवं स यजमानश्ष् विहरंक्ष नराधिप: । ररक्ष वसुसम्पूर्णा वसुधां वसुधाधिप:,इस प्रकार यज्ञोंका अनुष्ठान तथा सुखपूर्वक विहार करते हुए महाराज नलने धन- धान्यसे सम्पन्न वसुन्धराका पालन किया
evaṁ sa yajamānaś ca viharaṁś ca narādhipaḥ | rarakṣa vasusampūrṇāṁ vasudhāṁ vasudhādhipaḥ ||
وهكذا، وهو يقيم القرابين بوصفه راعيًا لها ويستمتع بملاهي المُلك، كان ذلك السيد على الناس—وسيد الأرض—يحمي البلاد ويجعلها وافرة بالثروة والموارد. وتُبرز الآية مثال الملكية الأخلاقي: إن الرخاء لا يدوم بالترف وحده، بل بالواجب الطقسي الموافق للدارما وبحُسن الحكم اليقظ.
बृहदश्व उवाच
A king’s dharma is to unite personal enjoyment with public responsibility: by upholding yajña (righteous duty and social-religious order) and by actively protecting the realm, he ensures prosperity for the land and its people.
Bṛhadaśva describes Nala’s earlier reign: Nala performs sacrifices as a royal patron, lives in comfort, and at the same time safeguards and administers the kingdom so that the earth remains rich and well-provided.
