Gandhamādana-praveśa and the Sudden Storm (गन्धमादनप्रवेशः — चण्डवातवर्षवर्णनम्)
तस्य तद् वचन श्रुत्वा लोमशस्य महात्मन: । आकाशगड्जां प्रयता: पाण्डवास्ते5भ्यवादयन्,महात्मा लोमशका यह वचन सुनकर सब पाण्डवोंने संयतचित्तसे भगवती आकाशगंगा (अलकनन्दा) को प्रणाम किया
tasya tad vacanaṁ śrutvā lomaśasya mahātmanaḥ | ākāśagaṅgāṁ prayatāḥ pāṇḍavās te 'bhyavadayan ||
فلما سمع الباندافا كلام لوماشَا العظيم النفس، قدّموا—بقلوبٍ منضبطةٍ وخاشعة—تحياتهم إلى غَنْغا الإلهية المنحدرة من السماء (ألاكاناندا). ويُبرز هذا المشهد خُلُقَ التواضع أمام المواضع المقدّسة، وقوّةَ الحجّ في التطهير حين يُقترن بسلوكٍ مهتدٍ.
लोगश उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic humility: after receiving guidance from a sage, one should respond with self-restraint and reverence toward sacred realities (tīrthas and holy rivers), recognizing their role in moral purification and right conduct.
Lomasha speaks, and the Pāṇḍavas, moved by his words, respectfully salute the heavenly Gaṅgā—identified here with Alakanandā—marking a moment within their pilgrimage where instruction leads immediately to devotional action.
