उपद्रवांस्तथा रोगान् हितजीर्णमिताशनात् । लोभ मोहं च संतोषाद् विषयांस्तत्त्वदर्शनात्
bhīṣma uvāca | upadravāṁs tathā rogān hitajīrṇamitāśanāt | lobha-mohaṁ ca santoṣād viṣayāṁs tattva-darśanāt |
قال بهيشما: ينبغي للمرء أن يدفع اضطرابات البدن وأدواءه بتناول طعامٍ نافعٍ سهلِ الهضمِ معتدلِ المقدار. وأن يغلب الطمعَ والوهمَ بالقناعة، ويكفَّ التعلّقَ بموضوعات الحواسّ ببصيرةٍ ترى حقيقتها. وهكذا تُقام سيادةُ النفس بحياةٍ منضبطة، ورضاً باطناً، وتمييزٍ جليّ.
भीष्म उवाच
Ethical self-governance begins with practical discipline: moderate, wholesome, digestible food prevents bodily afflictions; contentment counters greed and delusion; and insight into reality weakens fixation on sense-pleasures.
