Educational Q&A

Bhishma frames sacred knowledge as an ordered transmission: after listing the Prajapatis (cosmic progenitors and guardians of beings), he proceeds to the higher tier of governance—the gods who preside over the three worlds—implying that understanding dharma and order involves knowing the hierarchy of cosmic authority and responsibility.

In Shanti Parva’s instructional dialogue, Bhishma continues his systematic exposition to Yudhishthira. Having completed an enumeration of the Prajapatis, he signals a transition to the next section: an introduction to the principal gods who rule the three worlds.
