Karṇa’s Breach of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Battle-Line
saṁspṛṣṭaḥ sthāṇunā sadyo nirvraṇaḥ samajāyata | prītaś ca bhagavān devaḥ karmaṇā tena tasya vai ||
The verse highlights the interplay of human effort and divine favor: courageous action (karma) that accords with a higher, righteous aim can draw divine pleasure, and divine grace can swiftly remove suffering—here symbolized by the immediate healing of wounds.
Maheśvara (Śiva), called Sthāṇu, touches the wounded figure, who becomes instantly healed. Śiva is pleased by that person’s deed—described as a victory over an enemy—indicating divine approval of the action.
