Droṇa-parva, Adhyāya 59

(न तस्करा वा व्याधिर्वा विविधोपद्रवा: क्वचित्‌ । अनावृष्टिभयं चात्र दुर्भिक्षो व्याधय: क्वचित्‌ ।।

na taskarā vā vyādhir vā vividhopadravāḥ kvacit | anāvṛṣṭibhayaṃ cātra durbhikṣo vyādhayaḥ kvacit || sarvaṃ prasannam evāsīd atyantasukhasaṃyutam | evaṃ loko 'bhavat sarvo rāme rājyaṃ praśāsati || śyāmo yuvā lohitākṣo mattamātaṅgavikramaḥ | sarvabhūtamanaḥkānto rāmo rājyam akārayat ||

قال نارادا: في عهد راما لم يكن في مكانٍ من البلاد لصوصٌ، ولا أمراضٌ، ولا اضطراباتٌ على اختلافها. ولم يكن ثَمَّ خوفٌ من القحط، ولا مجاعة، ولا تفشٍّ للأوبئة. كان كلُّ شيءٍ يبدو ساكنًا مطمئنًّا، وكان الناس جميعًا موفورين بأعلى السعادة. وهكذا، ما دام راما يحكم المملكة، عاش العالم كلّه في رخاء. كان داكنَ اللون، فتِيًّا، بعينين تميلان إلى حمرةٍ خفيفة، يمشي مشيةً مهيبة كمشية الفيل السكران، ويأسر قلوبَ جميع الكائنات—وبهذا النحو أدار راما شؤون المملكة.
