तथा निवार्यमाणेन कौरवैरर्जुनेन च । हत एव नृशंसेन पिता तव नरर्षभ,नरश्रेष्ठ) इस प्रकार कौरवों तथा अर्जुनके रोकनेपर भी उस नृशंसने तुम्हारे पिताकी हत्या कर ही डाली
tathā nivāryamāṇena kauravair arjunena ca | hata eva nṛśaṃsena pitā tava nararṣabha ||
ومع أن الكورافا وأرجونا حاولا كفَّه، فإن ذلك الرجل القاسي مضى في فعله وقتل أباك—يا ثور الرجال. إن العبارة تُبرز الصدمة الأخلاقية: قُتل الرجل رغم محاولات المنع، وكأن الرحمة والضبط قد انهارا في أتون الحرب.
