The verse highlights steadfast courage and tactical resolve under extreme danger—an aspect of kṣatriya-dharma—while implicitly reminding that war forces moral agents to act within harsh constraints, where duty and survival demand decisive movement.
Sañjaya reports that Sātyaki is advancing along the chariot lanes and has driven into the narrow, highly dangerous gap between the great warriors Droṇa and Karṇa, even reaching the area held by Kṛpa—signaling a bold penetration of the opposing formation.
