Even in war, action is framed by leadership and dharma: the army’s disciplined preparation and unified signals (drums and conches) reflect collective resolve under a righteous commander, emphasizing duty, order, and moral intention rather than mere aggression.
Sañjaya reports that the Pañcālas and Pāṇḍavas, with Yudhiṣṭhira at their head, move forward fully armed; they beat war-drums and blow conches as battlefield signals to rally troops and announce readiness for engagement.
