The verse frames battlefield outcomes in moral and ethical terms: Jayadratha is labeled ‘pāpa’ (sinful), and his destruction is portrayed as the consequence of righteous wrath. It also emphasizes dependence on a higher agency—‘your grace’—suggesting that even heroic feats in war are not merely personal prowess but are enabled by favor, protection, or providential support.
Sañjaya reports that Jayadratha has been destroyed by the force of the addressee’s wrath, and that the seemingly impossible feat of breaking through the immense Kaurava formation (Duryodhana’s host) on the battlefield has been achieved—attributed explicitly to the addressee’s grace.
