na hi madrādhipād anyaḥ sarvarājasu bhārata | soḍhum utsahate vegaṃ bhīmasenasya saṃyuge bharatanandana ||
The verse highlights that extraordinary power (Bhīma’s vega) is matched only by rare fortitude and steadiness (Śalya’s capacity to endure). Ethically, it points to the Kṣatriya ideal of courage under pressure, while also reminding the listener that war magnifies both strength and the exceptional qualities needed to resist it.
Sañjaya, reporting the battlefield to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, emphasizes Bhīmasena’s terrifying momentum in combat and states that among the assembled kings only Śalya of Madra was capable of withstanding that onslaught.
