Adhyāya 141 — Night duels: Śaineya and Bhūriśravas; Droṇi and Ghaṭotkaca; Bhīma and Duryodhana
tatra bhārata bhīmasya bala-vīrya-parākramam
The verse foregrounds the classical kṣatriya ideals—bala (strength), vīrya (valor), and parākrama (heroic initiative)—as qualities by which actions in war are evaluated and narrated, emphasizing that deeds must be understood in terms of courage and capacity, not merely outcome.
Sañjaya addresses Dhṛtarāṣṭra (“Bhārata”) and signals a description of Bhīma’s battlefield might and exploits, introducing or transitioning into an account of Bhīma’s actions in the ongoing war episode.
