Book 7, Chapter 132
vyāyacchanti ca tatrāpi sarva evāparājitāḥ | yadi tāvad raṇe pārtho vyatikrānto mahārathaḥ ||
The verse highlights steadfast effort and resilience in the face of conflict: warriors remain ‘unconquered’ not merely by outcome but by continuing disciplined exertion, while a leader’s breakthrough (Arjuna’s) becomes a decisive ethical and strategic turning point in war.
Sañjaya reports that the fighters are still striving intensely, and he introduces a conditional development: if Arjuna, the great warrior, has managed to cross or break through the opposing battle-lines, it signals a significant shift in the unfolding combat.
