The verse highlights a battlefield ethic of vigilance and responsibility in leadership: a commander must perceive breaches in formation and respond swiftly. It also underscores how tactical choices (like flanking and breaking an array) can suddenly shift the moral and practical burden onto leaders to protect their troops.
Two warriors break through the side (flank) of the army formation and enter deep into the host. Duryodhana, described as the Kuru king, notices them advancing from within the army, signaling an urgent tactical threat.
