आर्य! फिर लगे हाथ चित्रसेन, विकर्ण और भगदत्तने भी दस-दस बाण मारकर भीमसेनको घायल कर दिया ।। सैन्धवश्न त्रिभि्बाणिर्भीमसेनमताडयत् | विन्दानुविन्दावावन्त्यौ पञठ्चभि: पठ्चभि: शरै:
sañjaya uvāca | saindhavaś ca tribhir bāṇair bhīmasenam atāḍayat | vindānuvindāv āvantyau pañcabhiḥ pañcabhiḥ śaraiḥ |
قال سنجيا: إن جايادراثا، أمير السِّندهو، أصاب بهيماسينا بثلاثة سهام. ثم إن أميري أفنتي، فيندا وأنوفيندا، طعنا بهيما بخمسة سهام لكلٍّ منهما. وهكذا، في زحمة القتال، اجتمع كثير من المحاربين على صبِّ وابلٍ مركز من النبال لكبح اندفاع بهيما.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how war amplifies harm through coordinated aggression: multiple fighters focus their weapons on a single powerful opponent. Ethically, it underscores the Mahabharata’s recurring tension between kshatriya duty in battle and the erosion of restraint when victory becomes the overriding aim.
During the Kurukshetra battle, Jayadratha shoots Bhima with three arrows, and the Avanti brothers Vinda and Anuvinda each shoot him with five arrows, wounding him as several warriors converge on him at once.
