Mataṅga–Śakra Dialogue on Tapas, Status, and Moral Qualities
na sā prītir diviṣṭhasthaḥ sarvakāmānupāśrataḥ | sambhaved yā parā prītir gaṅgāyāḥ puline nṛṇām ||
Spiritual joy born of proximity to a sacred tīrtha (the Gaṅgā) and a dharmic way of life is portrayed as superior to pleasure-based happiness, even the refined enjoyments of heaven.
A Siddha is praising the unique, unsurpassed delight and merit associated with dwelling on the banks of the Gaṅgā, contrasting it with the limited nature of heavenly enjoyment dependent on sense-pleasures.
