Mataṅga–Śakra Dialogue on Tapas, Status, and Moral Qualities
vāṅmanakarmajaiḥ grastaḥ pāpair api pumān iha | vīkṣya gaṅgāṃ bhavet pūto 'tra me nāsti saṃśayaḥ ||
Sins generated through the three channels—speech, mind, and action—can be cleansed through contact with sacredness; here, the Siddha emphasizes that even mere darśana (beholding) of the Gaṅgā has purifying force, offering ethical hope and encouraging reverence for tīrthas.
A Siddha is speaking within the Anuśāsana Parva’s instructional context, praising the Gaṅgā as a purifier and asserting with certainty that her sight alone can cleanse even those weighed down by wrongdoing.
