ययाति–देवयानी संवादः
Yayāti–Devayānī Dialogue and Śukra’s Consent
व्रतस्य प्राप्तकालं स यथोत्तं प्रत्यगृह्नत । आराधयचन्नुपाध्यायं देवयानीं च भारत,जनमेजय! नियत समयतकके लिये व्रतकी दीक्षा लेनेवाले कचको शुक्राचार्यने भलीभाँति अपना लिया। कच आचार्य शुक्र तथा उनकी पुत्री देवयानी दोनोंकी नित्य आराधना करने लगे। वे नवयुवक थे और जवानीमें प्रिय लगनेवाले कार्य--गायन और नृत्य करके तथा भाँति-भाँतिके बाजे बजाकर देवयानीको संतुष्ट रखते थे
vratasya prāptakālaṃ sa yathoktaṃ pratyagṛhṇat | ārādhayac channupādhyāyaṃ devayānīṃ ca bhārata janamejaya |
قال فَيْشَمْبايَنَة: فلما جاء الوقت المعيَّن للالتزام بالنذر، قبِل كَچا ذلك النذر على الوجه الذي وُصف له تمامًا. يا جَنَمِجَيَة من نسل بهاراتا، ظلّ يوقّر ويخدم مُعلِّمه (شُكراچاريا) وكذلك دِڤَياڻي، عائشًا على الكفّ والانضباط.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharma in the form of disciplined observance: a student should accept a vow exactly as instructed (yathoktam), maintain self-restraint, and uphold respectful service toward the teacher and the teacher’s household. Ethical conduct is shown through obedience, regularity, and reverence rather than personal convenience.
Kaca, living in Śukrācārya’s household, formally undertakes the prescribed vow when its time arrives. He continues devoted service to his preceptor and also attends respectfully to Devayānī, indicating his ongoing role as a disciplined student within the teacher’s family setting.
