इच्छन्नेव हि सम्बन्ध॑ कृत॑ पूर्व च मानयन् । को हि नाम भवेनार्थी साहसेन समाचरेत्,“सम्बन्धकी इच्छा रहते हुए भी कौन ऐसा कल्याणकामी पुरुष होगा, जो पहलेके उपकारको मानते हुए ऐसा दुःसाहसपूर्ण कार्य करे
icchann eva hi sambandhaṁ kṛtaṁ pūrvaṁ ca mānayan | ko hi nāma bhavenārthī sāhasena samācaret ||
قال فايشَمبايانا: «حتى وهو يرغب في إبقاء الصلة، وحتى وهو يوقّر الإحسان السابق، أيُّ رجلٍ يطلب خير نفسه حقًّا يُقدم بجرأةٍ طائشة على فعلٍ كهذا؟»
वैशम्पायन उवाच
One should not repay prior goodwill with reckless aggression; a truly welfare-seeking person restrains himself, honors past benefactions, and protects relationships rather than committing rash acts.
Vaiśampāyana frames a moral reflection as a rhetorical question: despite wanting to maintain ties and remembering earlier help, no sensible person would choose a daring, harmful course of action.
