Vāraṇāvata-prasaṃsā and the Pāṇḍavas’ Departure (वरणावत-प्रशंसा तथा पाण्डव-प्रयाणम्)
वैशम्पायन उवाच एवमुक्तस्ततो द्रोण: प्रत्युवाच कुमारकान् । वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! कुमारोंके इस प्रकार पूछनेपर द्रोणने उनसे कहा
vaiśampāyana uvāca evam uktas tato droṇaḥ pratyuvāca kumārakān |
قال فايشَمبايانا: فلمّا خوطِب درونا على ذلك النحو، أجاب الأمراء الفتيان.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse signals the ethical structure of instruction: a teacher responds after being properly questioned, emphasizing disciplined inquiry and responsible guidance within the guru–śiṣya relationship.
The narrator Vaiśampāyana reports that Droṇa, after being addressed by the young princes, gives his reply—setting up the next portion of the episode where Droṇa’s words guide the students’ understanding and action.
