ध्यानयज्ञः, संसार-विष-निरूपणम्, पाशुपतयोगः, परा-अपरा विद्या, चतुर्वस्था-विचारः (अध्यायः ८६)
मन्तव्यं चैव बोद्धव्यम् अहंकर्तव्यमेव च तथा चेतयितव्यं च वक्तव्यं मुनिपुङ्गवाः
mantavyaṃ caiva boddhavyam ahaṃkartavyameva ca tathā cetayitavyaṃ ca vaktavyaṃ munipuṅgavāḥ
يا فحولَ الحكماء، ينبغي للمرء أن يتفكّر، وأن يفهم حقًّا، وأن ينهض بواجباته على وجه الصواب، وأن يُبقي الذهن يقِظًا واعيًا، ثم يتكلّم؛ لكي يسير الـpaśu، النفسُ المقيّدة، نحو الـPati الربّ، بنيّةٍ وكلمةٍ منضبطتين.

It frames worship as beginning inwardly: right reflection, understanding, mindful intention, and restrained speech purify the paśu so that external Linga-puja becomes effective rather than merely ritualistic.
By implication, Shiva as Pati is approached through consciousness and order (niyama): when thought, knowledge, will, and speech are aligned, the soul’s bondage (pāśa) loosens and awareness turns toward Shiva-tattva.
