FAQs

This verse is primarily ritual-instructional, focusing on proper offerings in Śrāddha; it does not directly define Ātman, but it supports dharma as a purifying discipline that, in the Purāṇic worldview, steadies the mind for higher knowledge.

No explicit yoga technique is taught in this line; the practice emphasized is karma in the form of Pitṛ-yajña (Śrāddha). In the Kurma Purana’s broader synthesis, such disciplined ritual action is treated as a supportive limb to inner purification that can culminate in yoga and jñāna.

It does not explicitly mention Śiva or Viṣṇu; the verse contributes to the Kurma Purana’s dharma framework in which sectarian synthesis is expressed more in overarching theology elsewhere, while here the focus is correct ancestral offering.
