The Fathers of our father, and the grandsires, who have entered the broad mid-air; who dwell on Earth and also in Heaven—to those Fathers with reverence would we render worshipful service.
Rishi: Traditionally connected with Pitṛ-hymn seers in AV 18 (often Atharvanic/Angirasa transmission; specific r̥ṣi attribution depends on Anukramaṇī).
Devata: Pitaraḥ (the Fathers/Manes)
Chandas: Mixed/Anuṣṭubh-like cadence (AV 18.2 often employs funeral-liturgical meters; exact chandas per Anukramaṇī).
Primary: shanta
Secondary: karuna
