Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Philosophy","secondary_vidya":"Advaita-Vedanta","practical_application":"Uses the pot-space analogy to internalize nonduality: liberation is removal of limiting adjuncts, not creation of a new Self.","sutra_style":true}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Description","entry_title":"Ghatakasha–Mahakasha Drishtanta for Moksha","lookup_keywords":["ghatakasha","mahakasha","upadhi","moksha","jivanmukti"],"quick_summary":"When the pot breaks, enclosed space is known as not separate from vast space; likewise, when limitation is removed, the jiva is realized as Brahman."}

Alamkara Type: Drishtanta

Concept: Non-difference of jiva and Brahman; bondage is due to upadhi (limiting condition) like the pot.

Application: Contemplate: ‘I am not the pot (body-mind); I am the space-like awareness.’ Use the analogy to disidentify from transient forms.

Khanda Section: Moksha-jnana / Advaita-Vedanta (Brahma-jnana, Jivanmukti teaching)

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A clay pot shattering, with the ‘inner space’ seamlessly merging into the open sky—symbolizing the jiva’s identity with Brahman upon removal of limitation.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural, dramatic yet serene: pot breaking at center, swirling fragments, continuous blue sky flowing through, a meditative sage witnessing, bold outlines, symbolic mandala of space.","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore style, pot with gold-highlighted cracks, fragments revealing a radiant gold-blue expanse, sage with halo, ornate frame emphasizing transcendence.","mysore_prompt":"Mysore painting, clear didactic imagery: pot labeled implicitly as ‘upadhi’, sky as ‘brahman’, gentle colors, precise rendering of the moment of dissolution.","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature, detailed earthen pot on terrace breaking, expansive sky beyond with subtle gradient, a philosopher-sage seated nearby, fine brushwork and restrained symbolism."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"contemplative","suggested_raga":"Shankarabharanam","pace":"slow","voice_tone":"contemplative"}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: घटध्वंसाद्यथा = घट-ध्वंसात् यथा; आकाशमभिन्नं = आकाशम् अभिन्नम्; ब्रह्मणैवं = ब्रह्मणा एवम्.

FAQs

It imparts Brahma-vidya (non-dual knowledge): liberation is described as the jiva’s recognized non-difference from Brahman, illustrated through the pot-space (ghaṭākāśa) analogy.

Alongside rituals, governance, and arts, the Agni Purana also preserves Vedantic moksha-doctrine; this verse is a compact philosophical teaching that complements its broad, encyclopedic scope.

It directs the seeker toward identity-realization (jiva = Brahman), implying cessation of bondage and karmic limitation through knowledge—freedom like pot-space merging into infinite sky.
