Related Themes: Agni Purana 372.6 (definition of prāṇāyāma); Agni Purana 372.8 (pūraka); Agni Purana 372.9 (kumbhaka)
It defines the prāṇāyāma limb called recaka: controlled exhalation performed by closing one nostril with a finger and expelling the breath attentively through the other.
Alongside rituals, cosmology, and governance, the Agni Purāṇa also preserves practical yogic/physiological instruction—here, a precise operational definition of a breath-technique used in yoga and health disciplines.
Recaka, practiced with care, is traditionally treated as a purifying discipline that steadies prāṇa and mind, supporting inner cleanliness (śuddhi) and readiness for mantra, meditation, and worship.
