Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Cosmology","secondary_vidya":"Ayurveda","practical_application":"Links macrocosmic enumeration (vyoman) with microcosmic bodily constituents (marrow, fat, vasa), supporting purāṇic correspondences used in contemplative and encyclopedic mapping.","sutra_style":true}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"List","entry_title":"Vyoman and bodily constituents: 72 crores enumeration","lookup_keywords":["vyoman","bhuvana-kośa","majjā","medas","vasā"],"quick_summary":"Enumerates vast counts of 'vyoman' (celestial spaces) and parallels them with counts for bodily substances like marrow, fat, and vasa, reflecting purāṇic macro-micro mapping."}

Concept: Bandhu (correspondence) between cosmos and body; the same order is mirrored across scales.

Application: Use contemplation on macro-micro correspondence to cultivate śānti and embodied reverence; in study, integrate cosmology with physiology as a single knowledge-map.

Khanda Section: Cosmology & Sacred Geography (Bhuvana-kosha / Puranic Cosmography)

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A layered cosmos diagram of celestial spaces (vyoman) juxtaposed with a cutaway anatomical illustration highlighting marrow (majjā), fat (medas), and vasa as luminous reservoirs, suggesting mirrored vastness.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural showing concentric cosmic realms above and a stylized human torso cutaway below with glowing yellow-white reservoirs for majjā/medas/vasā; bold outlines, sacred-diagram feel.","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting with a cosmic mandala of vyoman in gold relief at top; below, an anatomical symbolic figure with gold-highlighted marrow and fat regions; ornate borders and jewel tones.","mysore_prompt":"Mysore style technical-cosmographic chart: neat concentric circles labeled vyoman; adjacent anatomical cutaway with labeled majjā/medas/vasā; restrained palette, precise lines.","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature of a sage teaching cosmography with a painted scroll: celestial spheres above, human anatomy below; fine detailing, scholarly setting, muted elegance."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"contemplative","suggested_raga":"Darbari","pace":"slow","voice_tone":"contemplative"}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: द्वासप्ततिस् = द्वा + सप्ततिः; कोट्यो = कोट्यः (o-ending due to sandhi); व्योम्नामिह = व्योम्नाम् + इह; मेदसश् = मेदसः (visarga before च); वसायाश् = वसायाः (visarga before च); चैव = च + एव.

FAQs

It conveys a technical Puranic enumeration: a fixed numerical measure (seventy-two crores) applied to ‘vyoman’ (celestial spaces) and to bodily substances (majjā, medas, vasā), blending cosmographic counting with classical anatomical vocabulary.

The verse exemplifies the Agni Purana’s cataloging style—placing cosmology (sky-regions/space units) alongside quasi-Ayurvedic body-substance terms—showing how the text compiles diverse knowledge domains into a single, systematic enumeration.

By presenting the cosmos and the body through orderly numerical categories, the passage supports contemplative understanding of macrocosm–microcosm correspondences, a common Puranic approach that aids disciplined reflection (jñāna-oriented purification) rather than prescribing a direct ritual act here.
