FAQs

Ayurvedic cikitsā: it lists specific pathya (wholesome) foods and drinks—lājā, śaktu, honey, lean meat, parūṣaka, and certain preparations—classified as chardi-ghna (anti-emetic) for controlling vomiting.

It shows the Purana functioning as a practical handbook by embedding clinical diet-therapy (foods, meats, fruits, and beverages) within a religious text, alongside its many other disciplines like ritual, polity, and arts.

By prescribing sāttvika, suitable diet and regulated intake to restore health, it supports dharma through bodily stability—health is treated as a prerequisite for sustaining vows, worship, and righteous conduct.
