Related Themes: Agni Purana 259 (Agneya-vidyā: homa/mantra-prayoga context)
It prescribes a specific homa sequence: recite designated Vedic anuvākas/mantra-formulas (“upayuñjata…”, “annada”, “tanūnapāgne”, “sad iti”) and offer dūrvā grass into the fire to obtain relief from distress.
It exemplifies the Agni Purana’s practical ritual-technology: not just theology, but step-by-step mantra application and material details (the offering substance, dūrvā) aimed at a concrete result (ārtinivṛtti).
The act combines mantra and oblation to invoke Agni’s purifying power, with the stated fruit being freedom from affliction—interpreted as removal of obstacles and pacification of adverse karmic/ritual conditions.
