Indrajit and Lakshmana: War-Boasts, Rebuke, and the Clash

Both were endowed with strength; both were rich in valor; both were exceedingly hard to overcome—each unmatched in power and fiery energy.
Both were richly endowed with prowess, both were courageous, exceedingly difficult to conquer and peerless in might.
Power is morally ambiguous: dharma requires that strength and tejas be guided by righteous intent; the verse sets up a contest where inner purpose matters as much as capability.
The narrator pauses to assess both fighters as evenly matched in strength and valor, heightening the drama of the duel.
Vikrama (valor) and bala (strength) in both champions—presented as comparable in raw capability.
