Vidura Leaves Hastināpura and Meets Uddhava
Vidura’s Tīrtha-yātrā Begins
kaccit sukhaṁ sātvata-vṛṣṇi-bhoja- dāśārhakāṇām adhipaḥ sa āste yam abhyaṣiñcac chata-patra-netro nṛpāsanāśāṁ parihṛtya dūrāt
O my friend, [tell me] whether Ugrasena, the King of the Sātvatas, Vṛṣṇis, Bhojas and Dāśārhas, is now doing well. He went far away from his kingdom, leaving aside all hopes of his royal throne, but Lord Kṛṣṇa again installed him.
Vidura asks about the chief of the Sātvata/Yadu clans—one whom Lord Kṛṣṇa personally installed as leader, highlighting a ruler connected with Kṛṣṇa and free from selfish ambition.
Because Vidura is inquiring about the welfare of Kṛṣṇa’s devotees and family after Kṛṣṇa’s departure from public affairs; his questions reflect affectionate concern for those sheltered by the Lord.
Leadership is meant for service, not ego; the verse teaches renouncing personal ambition and accepting responsibility only as an offering to God and the community.
