मार्कण्डेयो मृकण्डस्य प्राणाद्वेदशिरा मुनि: । कविश्च भार्गवो यस्य भगवानुशना सुत: ॥ ४५ ॥
mārkaṇḍeyo mṛkaṇḍasya prāṇād vedaśirā muniḥ kaviś ca bhārgavo yasya bhagavān uśanā sutaḥ
From Mṛkaṇḍa, Mārkaṇḍeya Muni was born, and from Prāṇa, the sage Vedaśirā, whose son was Uśanā [Śukrācārya], also known as Kavi. Thus Kavi also belonged to the descendants of the Bhṛgu dynasty.
This verse identifies Mārkaṇḍeya as the son of Mṛkaṇḍa, placing him in the Bhāgavata’s sacred lineage of great sages.
To trace the Bhārgava line: from Vedaśirā to Kavi, and from Kavi to the revered Uśanā, showing how influential teachers arise within rishi dynasties.
