无论因无明或明知而作,若生起任何过失,应当依仪轨勤勉修行“普罗耶施吉达”(prāyaścitta,忏悔净罪),以令其消灭。
Agastya (narration continues)
Tirtha: Ayodhyā (general kṣetra-dharma)
Type: kshetra
Scene: A pilgrim reflects with remorse after a lapse; a priest/sage instructs prāyaścitta—fasting, japa, and charity—near a temple courtyard; the mood is sober, corrective, and purifying.
Dharma requires accountability: wrongdoing—intentional or not—should be cleansed through proper prāyaścitta.
The instruction is given within Ayodhyā Māhātmya, implying purification practices are especially meaningful in this sacred setting.
Prāyaścitta (expiation) is prescribed as the remedy to destroy the effects of duṣkṛta.
