Rudrākṣa Māhātmya — The Greatness of Rudraksha
विद्येश्वरसंहितेयं कथिता वो मुनीश्वराः । सर्वसिद्धिप्रदा नित्यं मुक्तिदा शिवशासनात्
vidyeśvarasaṃhiteyaṃ kathitā vo munīśvarāḥ | sarvasiddhipradā nityaṃ muktidā śivaśāsanāt
噢,尊贵的牟尼们,此《毗提耶湿伐罗·三希多》(Vidyeśvara-saṃhitā)已为你们宣说。依湿婆之圣命,它恒常赐予一切成就(siddhi),并授与解脱(mokṣa)。
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadashiva
Role: teaching
It declares the Vidyeśvara-saṃhitā as intrinsically efficacious: hearing/receiving it under Śiva’s authority leads to both worldly-spiritual attainments (siddhis) and the highest goal, mokṣa—primarily through Śiva’s grace rather than mere intellectual knowledge.
The Vidyeśvara-saṃhitā is foundational for Śiva-upāsanā—especially Linga devotion and mantra-based worship—affirming that Saguna practices done in obedience to Śiva’s śāsana (injunction) mature the seeker toward liberation.
The implied practice is śravaṇa (devout listening) and pāṭha (recitation) of this saṃhitā alongside Śiva worship—commonly supported by japa of the Pañcākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), and traditional aids like bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa as taught in Śaiva observance.
