It teaches that disciplined devotional “dhāraṇā” (holding/wearing/steadily maintaining a sacred form or emblem in practice) supports both worldly aims and spiritual progress when done with reverence toward the divine.
The verse emphasizes an embodied, Saguna mode of devotion—using a tangible support for remembrance (dharana). In the Shiva Purana, such supports culminate in steadier contemplation and worship of Shiva, often centered on the Linga as the primary sacred focus.
It points to “dhāraṇā”—keeping a sacred emblem/form with faith (such as a worship-support used in Shaiva practice) and sustaining remembrance alongside regular Shiva-upasana, typically reinforced by mantra-japa and disciplined devotion.
