The verse teaches that prosperity and auspiciousness arise when a householder practices dharma through atithi-seva—reverently serving a worthy guest—thereby reducing ego and loosening pāśa (bondage) through selfless action aligned with Shaiva ethics.
In Shaiva practice, honoring the devotee and the dharmic guest is treated as service to Saguna Shiva present in living beings; such hospitality becomes an extension of Shiva-pūjā, complementing external Linga worship with lived compassion and duty.
The practical takeaway is atithi-pūjana: respectfully receiving a tired brāhmaṇa/guest with water, food, a seat, and kind words; as an inner practice, offer the act mentally to Shiva (Īśvara-arpana), making daily duty a form of bhakti.
